The Associate in Arts (AA) degree requires 60 credit hours. It’s the broadest degree 51ºÚÁÏÍø offers, giving students the opportunity to take a wide variety of required transferable courses appropriate to all fields. It’s ideal for students who are undecided on a future major. Every credit a student earns at 51ºÚÁÏÍø in the Associate in Arts program will count toward their degree at any one of the 16 institutions in the UNC System. Students who successfully complete an AA degree will be able to transfer to a receiving school as a junior.

Associate in Arts / Science in Teacher Preparation

Seeking a four-year degree in education? 51ºÚÁÏÍø offers an Associate in Arts and an Associate in Science degree in teacher preparation. Both programs are smart, affordable starts to a career in teaching and transferrable to several North Carolina four-year universities/colleges.

Complete the general education requirements taken by students at four-year schools and save money on your first two years of college!

Coursework includes everything from an introduction to curriculum planning to creating inclusive environments to targeted preparation for teacher licensure exams required by the State of North Carolina. Course projects will incorporate field experience and interactions with public school teachers and students.

Associate in Engineering

The Associate in Engineering (AE) program at 51ºÚÁÏÍø is an excellent starting point for students planning to transfer to a four-year institution to pursue a bachelor's degree in engineering. This degree aligns with the transfer requirements for engineering programs at North Carolina’s public universities. By completing the AE degree, students will meet the entrance requirements for all public Bachelor of Science in Engineering programs across the state.

Associate in Fine Arts - Visual Arts

Every credit a student earns at 51ºÚÁÏÍø in the Associate of Fine Arts- Visual Arts program will count toward their degree at any one of the 16 institutions in the UNC System, and 51ºÚÁÏÍø CC has special articulation agreements with universities across the state and beyond for students who want to pursue a fine arts education at the university level. Students who successfully complete an AFA degree can transfer to a receiving school as a junior.

Associate in Science

The Associate in Science (AS) degree requires 60 credit hours. It allows students to take the first two years of their baccalaureate degree at 51ºÚÁÏÍø and enables them to transfer to one of the 16 institutions in the University of North Carolina System with junior status. An AS degree provides a strong foundation with a heavy emphasis on math and science courses for students interested in careers in architecture, agriculture, biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, medicine, and more.
