Student selected as semifinalist for Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship

Morehead City, N.C. (March 3, 2022) 鈥� 51黑料网 is proud to announce Associate in Science student, Brittney Moore was selected as a semifinalist for the Jack Kent Cooke Transfer Scholarship. This highly competitive scholarship through the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation awards each recipient up to $55,000 per year to complete their bachelor鈥檚 degree at selective four-year institutions.

鈥淚 am transferring to the University of North Carolina Wilmington this fall,鈥� said Brittney. 鈥淩eceiving this award would mean I do not have to worry about being able to finish school. I鈥檝e had my doubts that I may not be able to afford my educational goals, but this scholarship could make my dreams come true.鈥�

This year 440 semifinalists were chosen from a pool of more than 1,200 applicants attending 180 community colleges in 35 states. Brittney is one of only four North Carolina students to be selected as a semifinalist. If selected as a Cooke Scholar, she will receive up to $55,000 per year to cover educational expenses at UNCW where she plans to complete her bachelor鈥檚 degree in biology.

Brittney says her goal is to pursue a career in the medical field as either a physician鈥檚 assistant or general surgeon. 鈥淭his scholarship would ease a lot of the financial burden so many medical professionals carry forward from undergraduate, graduate, and medical school,鈥� said Brittney.

Scholarship recipients will be announced by early May and are selected based on their exceptional academic ability and achievement, financial need, persistence, service, and leadership.

鈥淢y parents have always supported my endeavors and taught me that nothing is impossible,鈥� said Brittney. 鈥淚 owe all of my success to them and to receive this scholarship would be an amazing way to say thank you.鈥�
