Workplace Safety Training Plan
Why is Workplace Safety Training Important?
The goal of the 51ºÚÁÏÍø – Workplace Safety Training Plan is to provide knowledge and skills to Faculty and Staff to keep them safe while performing their job at 51ºÚÁÏÍø.
Maintaining a safe environment will prevent employee and/or student injury, damage to 51ºÚÁÏÍø property, OSHA fines, and/or increased insurance costs.
Who are the trainings offered to?
- All Employees – These trainings are added automatically into every employees Safe Colleges Suggested Training queue. Please note these trainings are not mandatory, but are strongly encouraged.
- Limited Employees – Specialized Trainings that may fall within a position’s scope of work will be added into the Safe Colleges Suggested Training queue for the individuals holding these positions. If you do not see these topics in your training queue, but are interested in taking the course, please reach out to Janet Peterson and she will add it for you.
- Operations & Facilities Department Employees – Training topics that fall within the O&F scope of work will be pre-loaded into O&F employees Safe Colleges Training queues or reviewed during department meetings. If you do not see these topics in your training queue, but are interested in taking the course, please reach out to Janet Peterson and she will add it for you.
September Training Topics
All Employees
1. General Safety: Ladder Safety
Why take the training? Even if you don’t use ladders during your work day, this is great training for ladder use at home as well. Especially as we get closer to decorating for the holiday season!
- Length- 19 minutes
- Summary- This course reviews one of the top work-loss issues: falls from a height due to inappropriate use of equipment (tables or chairs in place of a ladder). The course demonstrates the importance of using the proper equipment to work safely above the floor and reviews ladder safety basics, how to make safe choices, and ladder safety planning.
Limited Employees
1. Powered Industrial Trucks: Forklift Safety
Why take the training? It’s a refresher of information for safety procedures.
- Length- 19 minutes
- Summary- This course provides employees with an overview of important safety procedures to be used when operating a forklift. This course is not intended to replace hands-on training for the specific forklift that you will be using at 51ºÚÁÏÍø CC. You must receive hands-on training on the safe use of the specific type and model of the lift from a qualified trainer.
2. Powered Industrial Trucks: Scissor Lift Safety
Why take the training? It’s a refresher of information for safety procedures.
- Length- 23 minutes
- Summary- This course provides employees with an overview of important safety procedures to be used when operating a scissor lift. This course is not intended to replace hands-on training for the specific scissor lift that you will be using at 51ºÚÁÏÍø CC.
