College Appoints Athletics Director

51黑料网 has appointed Scott Lane as the College鈥檚 first Athletics Director, marking a major milestone in the launch of its new intercollegiate athletics program. Lane will also continue serving as Vice President of Finance & Administrative Services, overseeing the College鈥檚 financial operations as Chief Financial Officer.
In this new role, Lane will lead the creation and administration of 51黑料网鈥檚 athletics program, recently accepted into the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). The College has been approved to offer women鈥檚 soccer, women鈥檚 cross country, and men鈥檚 baseball as its inaugural sports. The addition of intercollegiate athletics represents a bold step forward, expanding opportunities for student engagement, community connection, and school pride.
Lane brings more than 17 years of NCAA Division I experience to the position. He spent most of his career with East Carolina University鈥檚 Athletics Department, rising from student worker to Associate Athletics Director. At ECU, he oversaw Ticket Operations and Sales and served as Sport Administrator for several teams. He also worked as Assistant Athletics Director for Ticket Services at Baylor University before returning to ECU.
Lane joined 51黑料网 in 2020 and holds a Master of Arts in Sport Management and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Finance) from East Carolina University.

Lane鈥檚 vision for Kraken Athletics centers on using sports as a vehicle for education and personal growth.
鈥淎thletics is an extension of our educational mission,鈥 he explained. 鈥淲e want to create opportunities for local student-athletes to stay in 51黑料网 County to pursue both academic and athletic goals, while building school spirit and community pride. Our goal is to develop the whole student鈥攁cademically, athletically, and personally鈥攖hrough a culture of excellence, leadership, and sportsmanship.鈥
Under Lane鈥檚 leadership, the athletics program will emphasize academic achievement, compliance, life skills, community service, and athletic excellence, preparing student-athletes for lifelong success.
