This comprehensive, two-part program—Massage Therapy I and Massage Therapy II—includes over 650 clock hours of applied learning. Students learn therapeutic massage theory, bodywork techniques, therapeutic touch, wellness principles, and professional practice standards used across clinical, spa, and rehabilitative settings.

Through guided instruction and extensive practice, you’ll build confidence in your ability to support clients across the lifespan using manipulation, methodical pressure, friction, kneading, and other evidence-informed massage techniques.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the Massage & Bodywork Licensing Examination (MBLEx) to pursue North Carolina Massage Therapist licensure.

Admission Requirements

To ensure student success and readiness for clinical practice, the Massage Therapy program requires the following:

Massage Therapy I

  • Must attend a mandatory program orientation
  • Must provide proof of required immunizations before the first day of class

  • Must attend a mandatory program orientation

51ºÚÁÏÍø CC’s Manicurist program prepares students for careers in the nail service industry with competency-based training that blends scientific and artistic principles in a simulated salon setting.

In just 16 weeks, students complete Manicurist I & II while gaining hands-on skills, product knowledge, and business and computer fundamentals to meet the NC Board of Cosmetic Arts 300-hour requirements.

This comprehensive course provides instruction and clinical practice in manicuring, nail building (application and maintenance of artificial nails) and pedicuring. The course content includes nail anatomy, disorders of nails, and irregularities of nails; theory and salesmanship as it relates to manicuring; actual practice in manicuring; and arm, hand, and foot massage.

Manicurist students must complete 300 hours in an approved beauty school or college before applying to the State Board of Cosmetic Arts for examination. Students enrolled only in manicuring shall only perform services directly relating to the prescribed course in manicuring.

Please note, this is a comprehensive course to provide training for those persons interested in becoming registered manicurists only and not desiring to become licensed cosmetologists. Courses are offered each semester during evening hours from 5 pm – 10 pm. Days of the week the class is offered varies. Please refer to individual class offerings for specific details.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will obtain a temporary license allowing them to work in a salon, spa, shop, etc… Before the expiration of that license, students must sit for and successfully pass a state board examination in Raleigh at the Board of Cosmetic Arts.

This two-part program—Massage Therapy I and II—includes 650+ clock hours of hands-on training in massage theory, bodywork techniques, wellness principles, and clinical practice standards for spa, rehabilitative, and healthcare settings.
